Oil in the Gulf

It’s been the lead news story now for the past several weeks. The gulf oil spill, as it’s being referred to, has created the worst pollution disaster in our history. The effect on the eco-system, and local commerce will be felt for years to come.

Many homeowners heat their homes with oil, and the oil is stored in a tank, either above ground or underground. What if a leak occurs and causes contamination of the wells in the area?

It’s important that you know how your homeowner policy will respond. Some policies exclude claims arising from pollution entirely, and some provide limited coverage.
